You can experience the life of women in rural Kenya – as they fetch water for their families.
Come join us and carry water around the reservoir.

Can you carry 1 gallon, 2 gallons, or 5 gallons?
Would that be enough water for you to use all day?
Come learn about water use (and waste).
It will be a fun and educational experience.

Two special guests are coming fLarasha Josephrom Kenya – Larasha and Dorcas. They will share how our clean water projects have impacted their lives.

Ole Tapas and Cajun Sno food trucks will be on hand. Locally-roasted fresh African coffee beans from Little Goat Coffee will be available for purchase. And of course, you can see (and buy) beautiful beaded jewelry and handicrafts crafted by Kenyan artisans.

These funds will help us finish Phase II of the clean water project in Kuku
(water storage, latrines, and sanitation trainings).

Walk for water. Walk for life.

Water is what makes grass grow, what nourishes livestock, and what sustains life. Without water there is no hope, no life.Water Is Life Kenya trains women and men how to maintain the wells we help dig and benefit from their skills in raising cattle. We have a beaded handicraft division that helps artisans and their families with the profits going back into our water projects. We listen, we ask questions, and we act so that families can escape poverKuku borehole drillingty.

Founded in 2008, Water Is Life Kenya has completed 16 clean water projects in an area about the size of the State of Delaware. Not far from us is world renowned Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Conservation region, the Maasai Mara Reserve, and Amboseli National Park.

Vegetation is sparse in the dry season and millions of elephants, Cape buffalos, impala, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, plains zebra, and blue wildebeest migrate to find water in what is known as the Great Migration. Seventy percent of the people in the area live off the land, and they and their animals are dependent on clean water.

We take pride in the fact that all 16 clean water projects we have undertaken are still operational – a remarkable record for this part of the world.

We estimate that over the last ten years our clean water and cattle management projects have directly benefited over 60,000 people and counting.

Last year’s water walk raised $17,068. It provided for the drilling of the bore hole and pump.
